Sean McDowell
EDUCATOR: Head of the Bible Department at Capistrano Valley Christian Schools, where he teaches the courses “Apologetics 101” and “Old Testament Survey”. He graduated summa cum laude from Talbot Theological Seminary with a double Master’s degree in Theology and Philosophy.
SPEAKER: Popular speaker at camps, churches, schools, and conferences nationwide. Sean co-teaches with Mark Matlock at the Planet Wisdom Student Conferences, which train thousands of students to think biblically every year. Sean is also a regular speaker to both teens and adults at Worldview Weekends (www.worldviewweekend.com).
AUTHOR: Sean’s most recent book is Ethix: Being Bold in a Whatever World (Broadman & Holman, 2006). He also compiled Josh McDowell’s Youth Ministry Handbook. Sean is a contributor for Passionate Convictions, an apologetics book compiled by William Lane Craig and Paul Copan (Broadman & Holman, 2007). Sean co-writes a regular column for the Journal of Student Ministries with Tony Jones, National Director for Emergent Village. Sean has also contributed to YouthWorker Journal, The Christian Research Journal, and has a monthly column on www.planetwisdom.com.
In April, 2000, Sean married his high school sweetheart, Stephanie. They have two children, Scott and Shauna, and live in San Juan Capistrano, California. Sean likes to brag that he has never been beaten in ping-pong.
