I
have always thought that the heart was an interesting organ. Working
24 hours a day 7 days a week with out any vacations. And the way it
has seemed to become the center of our being and a very powerful form
of expressive language, such as "She broke my heart." or "That boy really
has heart." So I scrounged around and found this wonderfully hearty
recipe and all I can say is Eat your heart out!
Here's
what you'll need:
- 1 red licorice whip
- 1 red licorice lace
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 3-ounce box strawberry gelatin
- Blue cake gel icing
- Grenadine syrup (optional)
Ok
to start with cut your licorice whip and lace in half and put them aside
(don't worry they're like worms and don't die when cut in half).
Now
you need to boil some water in a saucepan. Once it's boiling take the
water off the heat and pour in the strawberry gelatin. Next stir it
up until the gelatin has completely merged with the water (no it's not
a hostile takeover), and add a cup of cold water to help cool down the
mix.

Now
grab some tin foil and mold it into a heart like shape. Once you have
gotten your foil into an acceptable state line it with some saran wrap
and spray it with a no-stick cooking spray.

Set
the foil into a cup for support and pour the jello mix in (you can refrigerate
the rest or use it to make more hearts).
Now
take a section of the licorice lace and bend it into a U and stick it
into the tea cup. If it is stubborn tie it up by pinching the foil around
its ends to keep it up and in place. Then you can stick your heart mold
into the fridge and let it chill out until it gets firm.
.

Once
your heart has firmed up take it out of the fridge and carefully plop
it onto a plate, doing your best not to break your own heart.
.
Next
you will push your licorice whips through the heart diagonally from
each side so that you have arteries protruding from both sides and both
the top and bottom.

Finally
get your blue cake gel icing and draw some blue veins onto your heart,
and now you are ready to eat your heart out.

But
if you REALLY wanta do something gross, just get some grenadine syrup
and dribble it over your heart. Then you can prove to everyone you really
do have a bleeding heart.
Now
for the heartfelt Bible tie-in:
Matthew
15:18-20a says, "But the things that come out of the mouth come from
the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' For out of the heart come
evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony,
slander. These are what make a man 'unclean'"
Jesus
is speaking in this passage to some Pharisees, the religious teachers
of the day, who were claiming that his disciples were unclean because
they were eating with unwashed hands. Jesus refutes them by saying that
what makes a man unclean is what comes out of his heart. Jesus is not
speaking of the physical heart, but the spiritual heart, the seat of
the soul. It is here that shows what a person is truly like, it is the
center of their being. The things that come out of this heart are what
shows people who you are, that is why it this that makes a man 'unclean'.
What is in your heart, and what is coming out of it?. Is it something
that will make you 'unclean' and hurt your fellowship with God? God
want's to come in and fill your heart, so that He will be the source
of your life and He will be what flows out of you for all to see.
