Archaeologist: Nehemiah's Wall Found
According to this AP story, Israeli archaeologists working on another project have uncovered evidence of the Jerusalem wall built under the leadership of Nehemiah, as described in the Bible.
The discovery of Nehemiah's wall is particularly satisfying. Nehemiah lived in difficult times, but accomplished amazing things for God through great faith, humility, bold leadership, and fighting for what he believed in. Israel's enemies did not want that wall rebuilt; it would make Jerusalem too strong in the region. To get the job done, Nehemiah's builders had to multi-task as warriors.
Artifacts including pottery shards and arrowheads found under the tower suggested that both the tower and the nearby wall are from the 5th century B.C., the time of Nehemiah . . . The findings suggest that the structure was actually part of the same city wall the Bible says Nehemiah rebuilt, Mazar said. The Book of Nehemiah gives a detailed description of construction of the walls, destroyed earlier by the Babylonians.No, we don't rely on archeological claims and discoveries to make our faith in Scripture legit. But it doesn't hurt when these digs uncover more evidence in the reliability of the Bible as a historical record. As mentioned here before, it happens regularly."We were amazed," she said, noting that the discovery was made at a time when many scholars argued that the wall did not exist. "This was a great surprise. It was something we didn't plan," Mazar said.

I find that there is an odd disparity in how evangelical Christians treat scientific evidence.
On the one hand, if the evidence is about or confirming the bible, they tend to unquestionningly accept it. The AP article linked in is a good example of this - there is criticism of the assumed date of the wall at the bottom of the article, but this is not mentioned.
Yet, on the other hand, when science seems to be questionning the authority of the bible, it is instantly rejected, despite the science itself being firmly based on consensus.
So when a biblical fragment is dated using radiometric dating methods, the date is quoted without question. But when a fossil is dated using the same or similar methods, the date is rejected as yet another piece of scientific conspiracy against the bible.
The same evidence that was accepted as authoratative in revealing the origin of the bible is rejected when it is commenting on the origin of species. It's all very amusing.

Jack Van Impe has very recently stated that the finding of Nehemiah's wall is of particular significance to the coming of the Lord and end times. How would you tie these two together.
David said... "...science itself being firmly based on consensus." Sorry David. Science based on consensus is not science at all. This kind of consensus is merely several unbelievers agreeing and is not science. True science is without dispute and verifiable over and over. All the science mentioned in the bible is so.
Time after time the word of God has been proven to be perfect and accurate. If "so called science" does not line up with the bible then it is flawed somehow. This is a scientific fact in itself. All science that is contrary to God's word is false.
