'Bully' Video Game
From the video game makers of "Grand Theft Auto", Rockstar, comes another violent game closer to home. "Bully", releasing this October, features a 15 year old at a high school that has to defend himself against school bullies. He can defend himself with baseball bats, stink bombs, marbles and other things. Rockstar says there will be no blood or death of characters, but is that really the problem?
Video games are huge. Even the Christian based "Left Behind" series is releasing it's own "Left Behind Game" which has you in a "spiritual warfare" battle. Let's hope the lost of the world do not view Christians as being in battle with them. We are to love them and make disciples of them (Matthew 28:19).
Proverbs 10:12 says "Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers all wrongs." Maybe the 15 year old in the "Bully" game will be able to show love to his bullies. I'm not holding my breath.

Hmm. I wish that this post could have been a bit more in-depth. I myself don't like Rockstar, 1. Their games prove that if you can't do one thing well, do everything mediocre. 2. Shooting people, cops, and getting drugs and things are bad, though I would say that it's not as influential as "experts" claim. Sleeping with prostitutes and getting their money by killing them is different. That shouldn't be allowed. 3. The "Hot Coffee" scandal. Now, they said that it was a player-made macro. However, new reports have shown that it was not, and could not have been in the game unless Rockstar put it in there. So, they lied. That doesn't go well with me.
Something that I noticed was missing from this post however, was that Bully, while it allows players to pull pranks on other children, it also allows you to protect them and face off against other bullies. The main pull of the game is to pull pranks and avoid trouble with the principal, not to hurt others.
